We know the three charges against Adebayor: 1) Stamping Van Persie, 2) Scoring the decisive goal, and 3) Taunting Arsenal fans. The defense pleads guilty to the first two, but the last raises questions.
What did you expect? After an off-season of taunts and a chorus of boos from the visiting side, should Adebayor have been sad about scoring the goal?
Did Adebayor go a bit far, yes. But only so slightly. And he was refreshingly honest in his defense – “People who love me know how I behave.”
He never said that people love him. He did not mention a single name. He also did not say he behaves well. Rather, those close to him know the extent of his miscreant shannanigans. A breath of honest fresh air.
