So, Richard at Pitchinvasion waxed epic on the growing relationships between major media outlets and the accursed, insurrectionist bloggers. However, he left out one very real possibility and one very simmering critique: how many newspapers merely recycle the bland stories from the Associated Press in place of original content? As savvy readers check out newspapers from around the country and spanning the globe, the redundancy and flavor-less AP snapshot doesn’t fill the intellectual stummy starved for insight.

Riquelme: My Transfer Rumor Tumor Humor

So, the World Cup is over. The season is weeks away. However, for all the nascent capitalists and “managers in their own minds”, the open transfer season is a joyous occasion with the exuberance, spontaneity, and substance of a middle school dance. Wait, did somebody from Europe mention Landon Donovan’s name? Really? REALLY!!! I’ve got to visit the various sites and forums in order to confirm the substance of that unsubstantiated rumor and potentially post my own reflections on how it would forever change my life. For the better.

So, no. I am not Mister Manager. The gossip tales do not tug at my heartstrings. Press conferences and asides from overpaid agents do not make me salivate at the mouth. Why? Too much smoke. Not enough fire.

US Loses & ESPN Colossal #FAIL

So, the US lost. I am sad, but happy we did not get played off the park and advanced out of our group. Salutations to Ghana – I do not wish you well, but you deserved to win. Daggumit!

Still, despite the unprecedented attention to the World Cup in the US, unfortunately big media continues to churn out amusing errors by the boatloads. You may recall the NYTime’s error about Zizou playing for Italy. Well, ESPN did them one better. Check out this screenshot…
